Beyond the Season – Leave the crowds behind

14. 1. 2026

Heading out. Not every trip starts at a parking lot. My story begins at my doorstep.
I don't need to drive anywhere far. No need to deal with routes, drivers, or parking. I only take the essentials with me.
My mind is set on adventure.

The first push of the pedals. The first contact with the frozen path. The first chill on my face.
The journey is part of the experience. I pass many beautiful hills, choosing the one that is right for me.
The location doesn't matter. The Tatras, the outskirts of a great empire, the Alps. I ride. When I see mine, I’ll stop.

The journey to the foot of the hill is over. I leave my bike by a tree, unbuckle the straps, and the skis drop onto the fresh powder.
I feel exceptional. I leave the city, worries, and work behind. I am the first one here.
No one before me. I break my own trail. At this moment, on my very own mountain.
Just me, the sound of my breathing, and the light of my headlamp guiding the way.

Gradually, everything starts to shift from shades of gray. I recognize the landscape as it's bathed in the first rays of the day.
While you sleep, reality changes before my eyes. Time flows differently here.
I look at the ground. My breath quickens more and more. After a while, I turn to look at the landscape at dawn.
I smile. I know I am where I belong. I am one of those who have the privilege. I can change my world like this.

I stop. I take the skins off my skis. A deep breath in and out. The first turns are uncertain.
But after a while, I catch a flow that won't let go. I enjoy the present moment.
Nothing else exists. Just me, the hill, and fresh powder.

I’m at the bottom. Ready to start another day.

And what did I use to transport my skis and myself to the foot of the hill? An e-bike. Specifically, a tuned Pells Thorr Bosch 2 model.
I equipped the bike with SKS full-length fenders, a pannier rack for my boots, and a ski carrier from Cyclite.
An essential part is the studded tires – Schwalbe Ice Spiker.
This is all you need if you don't require extreme comfort.

I also added Litemove front and rear lights to my bike and heated grips powered by a separate power bank.
Yes, I thought about using the e-bike battery, but the grip requirements aren't compatible with the Bosch output.
And most importantly, I have the peace of mind that if I forget to turn off the heating, the bike stays charged.
The power bank used can also charge a phone and can be connected to another power bank for longer rides.

And that’s all. For an off-season adventure, you don’t need more than a bike, skis, and a desire to explore.
Forget the car, parking lots, and distant resorts. Look around you and enjoy these rare moments.
