About us

We Started in the Nineties

1991. Revolution. Freedom. A time to explore. Our first idea. Our first venture. But we didn’t start with bikes. At least not right away. The first path we took led to computers. In a rented room. No phone. A keyboard on our laps. It worked well, but … it wasn’t quite right.

The sound of a chain gliding smoothly over a cassette and oil-stained hands followed us everywhere. Every spare moment we were in the saddle. Sometimes, you don’t see all the possibilities right away. The idea of building our own bikes was born slowly. It matured over nearly ten years. At the turn of the millennium.

We Dived into Carbon

The spark was a personal need for the perfect race bike. Pells didn’t start with a universal bike, but with a road rocket ready to break records. We had the idea and some development experience. So why not try it? We were fascinated by cutting-edge technologies, so we jumped straight into carbon.

At that time, almost anyone in the Czech Republic worked with it. Top world cyclists raced on carbon machines, and we were still riding aluminum. We couldn’t let that stand. We started small. Our first product was a carbon handlebar. The first sign of what’s to come. Gradually, we expanded production and started making carbon components under the Pells X-Race Espirit name.

Pros started riding our bikes and bringing home medals. Lada Kozlíková, Jaroslav Rygl, Ondřej Sosenka, or Martina Němcová. We got bolder, venturing with carbon even into disciplines less associated with it, and built a BMX frame for Romana Labounková.

Everyone Should Have the Chance to Explore

The direction was clear. Everyone should have the chance to explore. Not just what's around the corner from home. But more importantly, what’s inside us. In 2006, we decided to offer our bikes to the public. The first Pells series included nearly thirty models. Mostly road bikes. Understandably — it was what we knew best, and speed had us captivated.

But the development of high-performance models didn’t stop. Quite the opposite. The following year we introduced the SEVEN, a full carbon aero frame without aluminum joints, and the ultralight SIX frame. Two years later, our first full-suspension bike hit the trails — the Pells Ridelight. And in 2011, our first all-mountain bike — the Pells Tarpan — saw the mountains for the first time.

With every model, we used the latest technologies and pushed development as far forward as possible. We built bikes with duralumin frames, used titanium and carbon, and experimented with nanotechnologies. We created special editions designed exclusively for top-tier competitions. But our most successful and iconic model turned out to be something entirely different — the Razzer.

An ordinary universal bike for everyone. Well, “ordinary.” It used an aluminum blade-frame design, which offered comfort similar to carbon — but at a fraction of the price. Simple, efficient, durable. A great bike for commuting, afternoon spins, or exploring your surroundings. Great price-to-performance ratio. Top models are cool — they show what a brand is capable of — but let’s be honest: how many people actually get joy from them? The Razzer offers that joy to everyone.

Ride to Explore

In 2017, we decided to change direction. We slowed down a bit. High speed and sports success are great — but there had been enough stress. We moved from industrial Brno to northern Moravia. To Silesia. Closer to the mountains. We simplified and clarified our product lines. Our visual identity underwent a facelift too — to better reflect who we truly are. And most importantly, we changed our approach to bikes.

High performance still matters to us, but now we focus more on the perfect riding experience. We build bikes that fit so well and offer such confidence that anyone who rides them forgets they're even on a bike. Just get out of work. Enjoy the whisper of gravel beneath the tires. Clear your mind. Breathe. Freedom. Adventure awaits around every corner. You don’t need to go millions of kilometers away, take months off, or buy a bike for hundreds of thousands. Although that’s an option too.

We’re still exploring. Still working with cutting-edge technologies. And our bikes are still ridden by champions. In 2024, Petr Hampl won the Czech national title on a carbon Airflow. On the Duke FS, ultramarathon riders Tomáš and Klára Novotny are collecting miles. On the same bike, Polish MTB racer Lukasz Helizanowicz is beating his competition. We keep pushing forward. That never stops for us. A tool should never limit its user’s progress. Wherever. For one more turn, one more summit, one step beyond your own limits. It doesn’t matter what level you’re at. Or how far, where, or what your goal is. Discover it. Pells. Ride to Explore.
